One of the last harvests of 2024

Temperatures in Long Island are dropping; going down to the

40's at night.

However, our JHS vegetable garden's plants have been resilient

and this week, we harvested eggplants, green peppers, hot

peppers, and tomatoes. They were donated to Guru Nanak

Darbar of Long Island, a Sikh Gurudwara (a place of workship) in Hicksville, NY that provides free meals to devotees 365 days a year​

Proud Day for DGA

DGA's first vegetable garden @ Jericho High School was officially recognized by the US Department of Agriculture as a People's Garden

Island Harvest Vegetable Donations

#4 - Produce from Garden

The first produce from the JHS Vegetable Garden has been harvested: tomatoes, eggplant, and zucchini. This will be DGA's first produce donation to Island Harvest!

JHS Garden in an unseasonably warm June

Tomato, zucchini, and eggplant plants have been growing well in the summer heat. Hope to see the first set of produce soon!

Initial Spring peek into JHS vegetable garden

The JHS vegetable garden has been built. We planted garlic on the right hand section and herbs (basil and cilantro) on the left hand section. The tomato, squash, and eggplant seeds have not sprouted yet. Stay tuned!
